3. Personal data we process
3.1 Data you provide directly
We process the following personal data when you create and maintain an account:
- Name
- Email address
3.2 Learning content and end-user data uploaded by customers
Depending on how the Service is used, users may upload or enter learning content that may include personal data of learners, such as:
- learner names
- learner email addresses
4. Purposes of processing
We process personal data for the following purposes:
- account registration and authentication
- providing and operating the Service
- customer support and service communications
- subscription and billing management
- creating and managing courses and learning content
- security and misuse prevention
- website and service improvement
- newsletter delivery (where subscribed)
5. Legal basis (where applicable)
LearnBuilder is based in Switzerland and processes personal data in accordance with the Swiss FADP.
Where applicable (e.g., EEA/UK), processing may be based on:
- performance of a contract
- legitimate interests
- consent (e.g., newsletter subscription)
6. Payments and subscriptions (Stripe)
For paid plans, LearnBuilder uses Stripe as payment service provider.
Stripe processes payment-related information to complete transactions and manage subscriptions. LearnBuilder does not store full card payment details on its own systems.
Stripe processes personal data under its own privacy terms.
7. AI features (Requesty and model providers)
LearnBuilder offers optional AI-supported functions, including tools for learning content creation, feedback, and grading.
Text generation and grading are provided via Requesty (requesty.ai), an EU-hosted AI gateway that routes requests to the underlying model providers (such as Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI). Speech (text-to-speech) and image generation are processed by specialised providers (such as ElevenLabs for speech, and Freepik/Magnific and fal.ai for images). Enterprise customers may instead bring their own provider API key (BYOK) for text generation, in which case those requests are sent directly to the chosen provider without traversing Requesty.
7.1 What data is processed for AI features
When you use AI features, inputs (prompts) and related content may be transmitted for processing. Depending on your input and content, this may include:
- instructional text (e.g., learning outcomes, rubrics)
- course settings entered by the user
- content included by the user for feedback or grading purposes
7.2 User choice of models
Users can choose which AI model(s) to use. Depending on the selected model, processing may be performed by different third-party model providers.
7.3 Recommendation on sensitive data
Users should avoid entering sensitive or confidential personal data into AI prompts unless necessary.
7.4 No use of your content for AI model training
LearnBuilder does not build or train its own AI models, and we do not use your prompts, course content, or learner data to train AI models. AI requests are processed by the third-party providers described above through their commercial APIs solely to generate the output you requested. Under the applicable API terms of these providers, content submitted through their APIs is not used to train their models.
7.5 How long AI providers keep your data
Your AI input is transmitted to the selected provider only to produce the requested output. LearnBuilder does not store the content of AI requests separately from your course data. Some providers may retain request data for a short period to detect abuse and maintain security, in accordance with their own terms. AI inputs that you save inside a course (for example, learning outcomes or rubrics) are stored by LearnBuilder as part of the Service and are removed when you delete the relevant course or account (see section 13).
7.6 Ownership of AI inputs and outputs
You keep ownership of the content you provide to AI features and of the outputs generated for you. LearnBuilder does not claim ownership of your AI inputs or outputs.
7.7 AI features are optional
AI features are optional. You can create, publish, and deliver courses without using them. Where an account is configured for EU-only processing, AI text requests are routed through Requesty's EU endpoint to EU-region model deployments where the selected model is available.
8. Analytics (Matomo, self-hosted, no cookies)
We use Matomo, a self-hosted analytics solution, to understand how our website is used and to improve performance and user experience.

- We use analytics data for aggregated website usage insights (e.g., page views and general usage patterns).

We use Beehiiv as our newsletter service provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email.
10. Data storage and hosting
LearnBuilder is operated by a Swiss company. Our hosting and infrastructure are provided via:

We do not sell personal data.
We share personal data only when required to deliver the Service, including with:
- Hetzner (hosting and infrastructure)
- Stripe (payments and subscriptions)
- Requesty (AI gateway) and the selected AI model, speech, and image providers (only when AI tools are used)
- Beehiiv (newsletter delivery, only if subscribed)
12. International data transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside Switzerland. Where cross-border transfers occur, LearnBuilder applies appropriate safeguards intended to ensure adequate protection as required by applicable law.
13. Data retention and deletion
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement.
13.1 Course content and AI prompts stored in courses
User inputs (e.g., learning outcomes) may be stored in course settings as part of the Service functionality.
Users can delete courses at any time. Deleting a course removes associated course data from the Service, subject to technical limitations and legal retention requirements.
13.2 Account data
Account data (name and email) is retained while the account remains active and may be deleted upon request unless retention is legally required.
14. Security measures
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. All communication between your browser and the Service is encrypted in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 or higher).
However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

- access to personal data
- correction of inaccurate data
- deletion (where permissible)
- objection to processing

Requests can be submitted to: [email protected]
16. Customer responsibility for learner data
If a user or organization uploads learner personal data (e.g., learner names and emails), that user or organization is responsible for ensuring they have the legal right to provide such data to LearnBuilder and for meeting any applicable information obligations toward learners.
17. Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. Updates will be published on learnbuilder.org and the "Effective date" will be adjusted accordingly.
