Common questions

Why decide evaluation BEFORE building?
Choosing measurement after rollout is the #1 reason L&D ends up with smile-sheets and nothing else. If you commit to "we will measure X with method Y at time Z" before development starts, the program is designed around evidence rather than the other way round. Will Thalheimer makes this point bluntly: most evaluation is theatre because it's scoped after the work is done.
Why three frameworks instead of one?
Kirkpatrick is the classic shared vocabulary — useful when stakeholders already know the levels. Phillips adds Level 5 (ROI) for cases where finance needs a monetised case. LTEM is the modern best-in-class: it explicitly demotes smile-sheet "happiness" data and adds Decision-Making Competence and Transfer as separate tiers.
Are smile-sheets useless?
Not useless — but they are the WEAKEST signal of learning. The plan will tell you to treat learner-perception data as climate / UX feedback only, not as evidence that learning happened. If you need real learning evidence, the plan moves you up the tiers (Knowledge → Decision-Making → Task Competence → Transfer).
Is there a limit?
A few requests per hour per visitor, plus a daily limit across all users so the free tool stays free. If you hit either limit, you'll see a friendly message — try again later or sign up for the full product.
Do you store my inputs?
We log a hashed IP, a hash of your inputs, and the generated plan for 24 hours so identical requests return cached results. No raw IPs, no email, no signup required.
